Structural IW / Ornamental Misc.
This crew performs all work in connection with the field fabrication, handling (including loading and off-loading), including maintenance at the site of work. Installs, assembles, secures, including repairs of, prefabricated ornamental ironwork, (other than building structural ironwork), including but not limited to; metal window and door frames, hand operated and motor-driven automatic power doors, overhead cranes, interior and exterior fixed ladders, metal trim and paneling and partitions, and curtain-wall frames; interior and exterior stairs and handrails, walkways, stadium seating, event tents, bleachers/grandstand seating, sky lighting, ornamental fences, and jail cells, security areas and equipment. May require welding, or bolting of brackets to lintels, sills, columns, and other structural framework. Drilling holes in metal, concrete and/or masonry structure, using portable power drills, air hammer, and hand tools. Cuts, miters, and bevels metal trim and cover plates as necessary to size, using handsaws or portable power saws. Bolts, clips, welds, or solders ironwork together and to brackets or anchors. Verifies level and plumb. Bolts newell posts, balusters, and other parts of stairways and stair rails, and ladder enclosures to supports or embeds them in sockets, assuring OSHA/MSHA and State safety requirements. Fastens cover plates and molding in place with metal screws, rivets, velcro (or other manufacturer required materials and adhesives) to finish and trim work.
